Activities | Walking

Walking is becoming more and more popular as people start to leave technology and head off to get back to nature and the tranquility and peace that it offers.

Tarbert, the surrounding area and all across Argyll present a number of walks and forestry walks for you to enjoy, or alternatively you can take a meander to small beaches and along the pier road of an evening saying hello to passers by.

The White Shore

The White Shore (renamed by settlers in the village to the 'breathing space' in order to secure money for development) has been a cult walk in the village for decades, many older residents in the village have been as a child. You can walk from near the fire station to the end of Garval Road and then continue right around the water's edge and through the forest to get to this little gem of water and beach.

Shell Beach

Walk along Pier Road right to the very end and then over the rocks into a small section of beach locally called shell beach, this is made completely from old scallop shells broken and tipped many moons ago.

Pier Road Walk

Many locals and couples walk their dogs or meander in a nice summer's evening along the Pier Road which presents and pleasant relaxing walk.

The Kintyre Way

Rising high above the castle and across the hills to Skipness, the first section of the Kintyre Way is one of several sections which covers the whole of Kintyre and measures 87 miles in length.
