A83 Re-opened.

A recent Diversion from Tarbet via Crianlarich and also from Inveraray to Crianlarich has now been removed and the A83 is no reopened allowing things to return almost to normal. The closure affected a large part of Kintyre and Argyll and also caused huge inconvenience but a huge relief is felt as this has reopened.

Tarbert Harbour Announces Development Plans

This week Tarbert Harbour announced plans to develop the inner harbour by working with the Tarbert Skipness Community Trust to buy back the old boatshed which currently is a huge eyesore in an otherwise potentially beautifully maintained harbour.

Tarbert Harbour Authority is also now entering discussions with the Crown Estate who has significant interest in the harbour to create a development plan for additional facilities including showers and toilet blocks additional berths and more.

This is a positive step however as always with the harbour authority there is likely to be some controversy.

Village Prepares For Christmas

The shops and businesses are preparing for the festive season this year and hope to offer a relaxed and friendly shopping experience for everyone this year with new and unusual gift ideas that you may not find elsewhere. Why not come along and experience the hospitality of shopping in this village, quite possibly offering one of the greatest and most personalised selection of jewellery in Scotland.

There are also plans to introduce some wonderful lighting around the harbour each festive year to make Christmas for you, your family and children a relaxing and festive experience. The first set of these lights will be on display this year.

The Christmas lights will be switched on in Harbour street on 8th December.

Scottish Series Confirms Return To Tarbert

It has been announced that the Scottish Series, sponsored by Bell Lawrie, will be returning to Tarbert in 2008. There is an opportunity for the village to show just what we can do in terms of hospitality and putting on a show.

It is hoped that the organisations who fund local events will not look at not putting pressure on events to cut costs and reduce grant capital and now look to preserve the events and festivals in place by offering substantial useful grants and endorsement to encourage long term tourism via strong event networks throughout Kintyre and beyond.

Seafood Festival Dates Announced For 2008

Tarbert Seafood Festival hopes to improve on the success of the 2007 event featuring such well known public figures in Nick Nairn, Esther O'Connor and the MacDonald Brothers with yet another feature and fun packed weekend in 2008.

Book Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th July in your calendar for 2008 for the Tarbert Seafood Festival.
